Man charged with murder in Eufaula shooting

A man was arrested in the death of James Williams.

Several citizen tips led officers to arrest Dewayne Jamar Henderson, 23, of Eufaula Wednesday afternoon on a murder charge.

He is being held in the Eufaula City Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) — Eufaula police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to Norman Street 1:05 a.m. for a firearm assault. Both police and Eufaula Fire/Rescue personnel found a man dead inside a home. The victim, James “Happy” Williams of Eufaula, was shot in his chest.

He was 78 years old.
