DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A spike in violent crimes now has Dothan residents concerned with their safety.
On Wednesday night, Dothan Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. They then responded to a fatal shooting on Greenwood Drive on Thursday. According to witnesses, they say the shooting stemmed from an argument between a pedestrian and a driver.
That night, another man was shot in the head outside of his home.
“You get spree of things, but the important thing for people to remember is none of these crimes are related,” Lt. Doug Magill said.
Magill also said that Dothan’s crime rates are not that far from what is reported in communities of similar sizes.
“If you look at crime statistics throughout other cities of our size, Dothan is no worse or, in better,” he said.
“We are still actively working both homicides, getting good leads, but obviously, if someone has any more information on either one of them, they are encouraged to call the police department at 615-3000,” Magill added.
