An Enterprise family has lost everything in an early Monday morning house fire on North Main Street, according to Chief Byron Herring.
The Enterprise Fire Department received a call about the fire around 8:28 a.m. Thick black smoke could be seen a distance away from the home.
Herring said the house was home to seven people, four of which were inside at the time. Flames erupted from the house’s roof, front window, and vents.
All the people survived the blaze, with one suffering eye irritation. However, five out of the family’s 10 dogs died in the fire.
Herring said the fire began in the kitchen, with the “most probable cause” being an electrical issue with the stove’s plug.
The chief declared the house a total loss, saying the family’s belongings were lost in the fire.
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Enterprise firefighters worked to put out a house fire on North Main Street Monday.
Photos from the scene show that much of the house was engulfed in smoke while emergency personnel tried to quell the flames. Judging from the photos, the house suffered damage to its roof and had its windows broken while the fire raged within.
The house itself is located down the street from the city cemetery and across from a series of medical businesses like Holley Pharmacy.
We are working on getting information on what caused the fire in the first place.
