Ozark man pleas guilty to a 1990 murder

Ozark, Ala. (WDHN)—In an Ozark courtroom Monday morning, a 55-year-old Ozark man pled guilty in a 30-year-old murder case.

Jeffrey Beasley pled “guilty” to the March 7, 1990 murder of then 22-year-old Tracy Harris.

Harris’s body was found in the Choctawhatchee River. an autopsy determined that harris died by drowning and strangulation.

initially, the victim’s husband, Carl Harris Jr., had been charged with murder, but that charge was dropped after Beasley had confessed to the killing.

Following his guilty plea to murder, Beasley was sentenced to 30-years in a state penitentiary.

Dale/Geneva District Attorney Kirk Adams tells WDHN that he thanks several witnesses who came forward and presented evidence more than three decades later.
