OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — The Ozark Police Department has arrested a man in a murder investigation that has been in progress for more than a month.
On March 22, Ozark-Dale County E911 got a call about an unresponsive man on Washington Avenue, leading law enforcement to the body of Joshua R. McNeal, 34, of Ozark.
McNeal had been shot to death, and upon further investigation by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, it was determined his death was a homicide.
Police previously identified a man named Qadree Ata Jesar of Ozark as a suspect, but after collecting interviews, evidence, and “very important” information from law enforcement resources, police arrested a different man, Jeremy Spears, on the murder charge.
Spears, a 22-year-old man from Ozark, was booked into the Dale County Jail Wednesday afternoon. He has no bond yet for the murder charge.
