Ozark gives out sandbags for those in potential flood zones

Local News

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — The city of Ozark is getting prepared as Hurricane Sally gets closer to the Wiregrass area.

People can pick up sandbags at the Public Works Building on Peacock Way at any time.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bob Bunting says there will be extra first responders on standby to help with any issues — be it flooding, power outages, or other emergencies.

“You know, be very very aware of what’s going on,” Bunting said. “We’ll have extra police on tonight to be looking at those places asking people, you know, if you see water don’t go, through it turn around. Don’t take any risk, don’t take any chances. You need some help? Find another way to get there.”

Make sure to pick up those sandbags if you’re in a potential flood zone.
