ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Over recent weeks, Enterprise police have been clearing unfounded rumors on social media.
For instance, someone posted an unfounded story of Antifa, a left-wing political group, placing bricks around downtown to throw at police. In a separate post, someone said white supremacists were shooting at black residents along Main Street.
“We just need to have due diligence and be vigilant, you know, if there’s a crime in progress, but don’t make something up and post it online,” Lt. Billy Haglund said.
Haglund said it’s not just Enterprise, but law enforcement across the country have been working to quash similar rumors online.
