BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN) — Georgia’s Department of Insurance released information on a fatal fire from last week this Tuesday afternoon.

According to the department’s report, a fire broke out in a fifth-wheel camper on 281 McMullen Lane, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man.

Mickey Cook was reportedly living in the camper at the time of his death. His camper was totally destroyed by the blaze.

“The body of the deceased was turned over to the Early County Coroner’s Office for transport to the GBI Crime Lab, where an autopsy is set to be performed,” said John F. King, safety fire commissioner. “The cause and origin of this unfortunate event are still being investigated.”

The department says that 90 Georgia citizens have died in 2019 as a result of fires.
