New playground equipment coming to the Slocomb Recreational Park

Slocomb, Ala. (WDHN)—By early Spring, Slocomb officials expect to install around 40-thousand dollars worth of new playground equipment at the city recreation park.

On any given day, you can expect to see Kendra Brashear with her nieces and nephews
On the playground equipment at the Slocomb Recreation Park.

Due to “Age”, much of the “older” equipment will soon be replaced with newer, safer, and kid “friendly”
outdoor items.

Brashear says “especially the youngest one, he’s two. He loves the tractor, but swings and a slide that 2 and 3-year-olds can actually climb up would be great
and that would actually make me happy in Slocomb.”

Slocomb Mayor Rob Hinson says the city hopes to entice younger, working families to the municipality.
By offering brand, new playground equipment. The lion share of the 40-thousand dollar expense
Will be covered by the manufacture.

Mayor Hinson says
“It is, Slocomb is growing. We got more people moving out that way with younger families. And getting involved in the school system so I think
Its really good for young families to have this for entertainment.”

Mike Gurspan says “by providing state-of-the-art playground equipment, Mayor Hinson believes it’ll “save” money for
families not having to travel long distances for their kids’ to enjoy the “Great Outdoors”.
