DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — City Commissioners are looking to improve the Rip Hewes Stadium.
The stadium is more than 50 years old and commissioners want to make it more appealing to Dothan residents.
General Services Director Andrew Love stated new locker rooms, concessions and so much more to improve the stadium.
The city approved a request to work on the stadium for a budget of $542,000.
“Our goal is to make it a nicer place for Dothan to have football games and perhaps for leisure services to host other events out there like we’ve done some movie nights and things like that and make it more accessible, more available for the community,” Love said.
Love said this will be benefit not only football fans, but all Dothan residents.
