New Brockton, Ala. (WDHN)—One of the hottest real estate markets is in Central Coffee County, all thanks to the construction of
the Ben E. Keith food processing facility.
Downtown New Brockton generally looks like it did at the turn of the 20th Century. But, that will soon change,
Just a few miles away along the New Brockton Highway 84 Bypass, the million square foot Ben E. Keith food processing
facility is under construction. It’s completion date is the end of 2021.
Newly elected council member Todd Askins and his wife, Amanda, have recently sold several “old”
downtown buildings they owned. In addition, buyers’ are paying above the asking prices.

“Downtown businesses have been purchased over the last couple of weeks. Most things are not staying on the market very long,
less than 24 hours. And the amount of traffic downtown has really increased recently as well.
Some cafes planned. Some buildings are being renovated for rental purposes. Some are keeping their cards kind of close
right now. But definitely potential.”
