More than 200 officers from across Alabama pay respects to Geneva County hero

SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN) — More than 200 law enforcement officials from as far away as Mobile and Birmingham took part in the funeral procession for Alabama state trooper and special agent Mike Gillis.

In addition to law enforcement, Gillis spent 38 years as a Samson volunteer firefighter and 33 years with the Alabama National Guard.

With full military honors, Gillis received a 21-gun salute. Burial took place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Geneva.
