Kendell Sanders has been found safe in North Carolina, according to the Dothan Police Department.
A post on the department’s Facebook explained that a family member saw Kendell leave her home with her boyfriend and two bags of clothes, despite posts on social media claiming she was abducted.
The department also responded to criticism over law enforcement’s response to the situation.
We take the protection of our children as one of the most important parts of our jobs and will do everything in our power to make sure they are safe. When we are actively working a case we will not release certain details to protect the integrity of the case and not let information out that may hamper our investigation. Sometimes it is very important, like in this case, not to let the runaway or her boyfriend see what we know on social media.
