Houston County manhunt suspect captured

UPDATE:

A man hunt in southeast Houston County has come to a close.

WDHN has received reports that the suspect, identified as Steven Hopkins, has been captured.

Earlier today, Sheriff Donald Valenza said Hopkins was involved in a high-speed chase, and his deputies got involved once they crossed the state line.

They lost him near Dothan city limits, but later found his vehicle abandoned in a field on Sowell Road.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man in a field off Sowell Road.

K-9s have been deployed as well as a helicopter and drone to help find the person their looking for.

The Cottonwood Police Department and U.S. Marshals are also searching at the scene. Authorities chased the man earlier Monday past Highway 84 East.

The fugitive is wanted for felony warrants out of Georgia and was on the run from Florida law enforcement.
