UPDATE:

A Dale County jury has found Clio man Joseph Clark innocent of rape and incest charges.

The jury verdicts were filed Wednesday for both counts.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dale County man is scheduled to face a jury next Monday on rape and incest charges for an incident that happened in the mid-2000s.

According to the grand jury’s indictments, Joseph Clark of Clio is accused of raping a minor relative sometime between April 1, 2004, and Sept. 6, 2006. The relative was between the ages of 12 and 16.

This comes as Dale County prepares to restart jury trials. According to a court official, they struck juries Friday in time for the proceedings Monday.

However, proceedings in Clark’s case could still hit a snag due to COVID-19. On Tuesday, the state approved Clark to take a rapid COVID-19 test at Dale Medical Center after he was exposed to the virus on Sept. 2, as stated in his original motion.

No continuances have been issued since, however.
