DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Houston County School Board announced that its systems were targetted by a malware attack Thursday.

As a result, the phone line at the Central Office has been “interrupted” for the moment.

With this new development, the school system will now change its dates for the first day of school and open houses.

The day for the district’s open house will now be on Aug. 1, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The first day of school is now set for Aug. 5, 2019.

The school board said that they are working to fix the technological problems with the help of law enforcement and network engineers, but no other information can be released at this time.
