DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — COVID-19 hospitalizations in Alabama have continued to drop off following a surge of new patients earlier this January.
The Alabama Department of Public Health reported 2,251 hospitalizations among 108 hospitals Monday, making for an approximate average of 21 patients per hospital.
According to Bamatracker, new deaths are also being reported at a much slower rate. On Jan. 10, 48 Alabamians were said to have died from the virus while last week, the highest daily number of deaths was 10 deaths on Jan. 17 and 18.
Locally, hospitals have seen small decreases. Southeast Health reported Monday morning that it had 80 patients, 37 less than its record high of 117 on Jan. 7.
Flowers also saw a small decrease from 49 patients last Friday to 46 patients Monday.
