DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A local restaurant is currently in the finals in the search for Alabama’s best peach cobbler.
Ray’s Restaurant in Dothan is among four eateries left in the running to win the title of Bama’s Best Peach Cobbler, sponsored the Alabama Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association.
Earlier in April, people sent in nominations for who they thought had the best peach cobbler through the AFVGA’s Facebook page. Ray’s was chosen along with Burnette Farms Market in Pelham, Fat Boy’s Bar-B-Que Ranch in Prattville and Peach Park in Clanton.
From April 23 to April 25, the judges of the competition will make their rounds, tasting what each location has to offer. The restaurant deemed worthy of Bama’s Best Peach Cobbler will be awarded in early May as peach season ramps up.
“Judges include Chilton County farmer and AFVGA President Taylor Boozer Hatchett; SouthernBite.com food blogger and recipe developer Stacey Little; and a surprise television personality,” a release states.
Whoever wins the competition will earn $300, a plaque celebrating their achievement, a feature in the June Neighbors magazine and the right to rub it in their competition’s faces.
