DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A local organization in Dothan is calling on the community for help with Texas through their winter storm crisis.
The Islamic Community Outreach Center is asking for donations of bottled water and non-perishable items to take to Texas to help citizens dealing with the inclement weather and the horrible situations they are currently suffering.
The Executive Director of the Islamic Community Outreach Center, Derrick Oliver says people can drop items off at 1125 South Saint Andrews Street.
“And I think that’s what happened.” Oliver said. “When we see the need in Texas, it’s the same when we saw the need in Puerto Rico or the Bahamas or other places. You know Dothan is a unique place in that aspect, we have a love for humanity, we reach for each other here and we reach for people abroad.”
Donations will be taken until the end of the day on March 4. The items will be distributed by anchored ministries once reaching Texas.
