DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many deaths of loved ones on top of everyday life.
For Sunset Funeral Home, they were hardly affected as they dealt with few services at the beginning of the pandemic.
Over the past month, they have seen a huge uptick in COVID-19 deaths, although the toll is slowly coming down.
However, Sunset Funeral Home Director Robert Byrd said there is no shortage of burial spaces at this time.
“The death rate has gone up in the last two months or so, but I think they will slow down now and if not now, soon because the pandemic will come through and then go away,” Byrd said.
Byrd also said there has been about a 55 percent increase in graveside services now due to everyone being outside to social distance.
