DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — After Hurricane Sally passed through last week, many Florida panhandle residents saw floodwaters damage in their vehicles.
If your vehicle got damaged, insurance officials say do not try to start your car because that could cause even more damage.
They also said it’s a good idea to act quickly and get the vehicle out of water. The next step would be to file a claim.
“If you think there’s any damage at all, the claims team will determine coverage, and they will be able to assess any damage, but I would strongly suggest reaching out to your insurance provider in the event of any type of flooding,” State Farm Agent Dustin Champion said.
Champion said your insurance company, along with a mechanic, will be able to look at the damage and help you from there.
