Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said all county projects are now on hold due to the pandemic.
“We haven’t cut back on any projects but we certainly aren’t moving forward with any large new projects at this time. We’re being very conservative with the funds that we’ve got,” Culver said.
Culver explains that the million dollar shortfall they faced will be pushed back towards the end of the year.
Culver believes the county will see a bull dozier effect in regards to the revenue lost and will catch up before the end of the year since they are back open, and people will now have access to drivers licenses, tags, and more.
He says when they approve their budget, there is always a safety net if you will or as Culver calls it a “Fund balance reserve” that protects them from issues such as that.
Culver and commissioners assures people that they will remain fine even with the loss.
