Houston Co. Sheriff: Woman left her infant in a sealed, hot car for 45 minutes

Local News

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Another baby was left in a car within a two-week period, according to law enforcement.

This time, it happened in Taylor, with Sheriff Donald Valenza confirming the arrest of Kearra Ricks Monday for leaving a baby in a car.

The baby is now recovering. Ricks was released from the Houston County Jail on a bond for a torture/willful abuse of a child charge.

The child was reportedly left in a vehicle with windows rolled up for at least 45 minutes.

It’s the second arrest for this crime in the viewing area in the last two weeks. Both babies survived the ordeal.

However, the last time a child was stuck in a car in Dothan, it ended in the toddler’s death.
