Houston Academy proposes three plans for fall reopening

Local News

Houston Academy is planning on opening school on Aug. 18 but with three different plans in place.

One is a green plan with regular hours, a yellow plan that will have school on alternating days, and a red plan that will be distance learning.

For classes like chorus, drama, and band, those would be outside.

“It’s not a good idea to have a bunch of kids singing in an enclosed area,” Dr. Scott Phillips said. “We feel like if we get them out on the practice field or something like that and spread them out. Again, research is telling us outside is a much better deal. In fact we’re gonna encourage, all of our classes to go outside where it’s possible.”

Phillips said distance learning will be available to everyone and there will be protocols in place in case anyone has contact with covid-19.
