Gov. Ivey reminds Alabama EMA the importance of vigilance

HOOVER Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Emergency Management Agency is holding its 2018 disaster preparedness conference at the Hyatt Regency and Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham.

The conference is a two-and-a-half-day educational event. Conference topics include how to properly handle active shooter threats and school safety as well as tornado and hurricane preparedness. 

Governor Kay Ivey was Wednesday’s keynote speaker. So far in 2018, she has only issued four state of emergency orders. However, she reminded the attendees the importance of vigilance and readiness as hurricane season continues.

The conference will wrap up tomorrow.
