Geneva police disperses homeless camps along the Pea and Choctawhatchee Rivers

Local News

Geneva has drawn homeless people who have illegally set up tents in heavily wooded areas of Geneva.

Police chief Tony Clemmons said his men have moved out several people living in tents along both the Pea and Choctawhatchee Rivers. Chief Clemmons believe it creates a health issue, and it’s dangerous for the homeless.

“Its been over 100 degrees this week, and now rain moving in. Not to mention the wildlife, our main concern is their safety,” Clemmons said.

According to Chief Clemmons, homelessness has not been a big problem in Geneva. But, his department wants to be proactive in keeping it in check.
