GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The Geneva County Sheriff’s Office recently received new gear for its canine unit through a company called Vested Interests.
The company has helped the sheriff’s office with canine vehicle equipment as well as vests for their canine.
That’s not all; the company is working on more.
“We have asked for the insurance so that the dog would be insured, and we would have a little bit of medical coverage on him, and we were accepted and got that on the ground also,” Sheriff Tony Helms said.
The canine program works off of donations and discretionary funds.
Helms said this is a well-needed resource.
