GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Geneva County Commission agreed Monday to join the Rails to Trails Coalition.
It’s part of a state eco-tourism venture to build a walking and bike trail along an old railroad bed from Geneva to Andalusia.
The 40-mile trail will stretch through Geneva, Coffee, and Covington counties, along with a half-dozen municipalities.
“The amended certificate would add the towns of Samford, Babbie, Kinston, and the city of Samson and Geneva and would also add Covington County, Coffee County, and Geneva County,” said Phil Ethridge, attorney for the Geneva County Commission.
Just about all of the local governmental agencies have agreed to Rails to Trails, but there’s no timetable on when it will be built.
