Geneva, Ala. (WDHN)—Following several rain delays this spring, the new Geneva County jail is on course to be completed by the end of the month.
The 150-bed facility will accommodate male and female inmates and will have temporary holding space for inmates with psychological disorders.
The jail will also be equipped with state-of-the-art security and camera systems.
Sheriff Tony Helms says his personnel will go through a training period before the facility opens.
The jail was paid through a one percent local increase in the sales tax across Geneva County.
