GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Last week, Geneva and Dale’s counties were placed in the COVID-19 “very high risk” category.
At Monday’s Geneva County Commission meeting, EMA Director Eric Johnson says hospitals are discussing transferring coronavirus cases from “high concentration” facilities to hospitals
with fewer COVID-19 patients.
Wiregrass Hospital CEO Janet Smith tells WDHN her facility is currently treating seven cases and only has enough staff and space to handle additional cases from its nursing home.
Johnson said the problem is a lot more acute in larger counties.
