Geneva City Council approves a Rails to Trails motion

Local News

Geneva, Ala. (WDHN)—Recently, the Geneva City Council unanimously approved a resolution in support of “Rails-to-Trails conservancy.”

The RTC is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines.

The organization wants to build a 42-mile “walk and bike trail” from Geneva’s Robert Fowler Park
all the way to Andalusia.

Several years ago, CSX Railroad removed its unused track between those two cities.

In addition to the Geneva, Geneva County, Coffee County, Covington County, and all the cities and towns
along that stretch of real estate approved resolutions in support of the project.

There’s no timetable to when the project will get underway.
