A funeral service was held for a Daleville volunteer firefighter who died last Wednesday.
Robert Bennett was a veteran who served two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan.
He was hospitalized on Aug. 8 after suffering from a seizure. He was found to be in septic shock, which put him into a vegetative state.
Those who knew him said he was a great man.
“He helped anybody and everybody that needed help,” Robert’s wife Denise Bennett said. “He would give the shirt off his back and the last dollar out of his wallet. Amazing husband. Amazing father, friend, son. He was just everything. Everybody knew him and had wonderful things to say about him, and that made me feel good. He was an amazing man taken away way too soon.”
Military honors for Bennett will be Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
