DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — For days, search teams scoured the Chattahoochee River, using advanced technology and equipment in hopes to recover Ashford resident Jason Campbell.
Teams located Campbell early Thursday morning. The days leading up to the discovery were an extremely difficult time for Jason’s family and friends.
“I just prayed and prayed all night,” close family friend Linda Jaggers said. “I cried, and I prayed. I think until I can’t cry no more for him to be found, you know.”
Jaggers said the discovery was one Jason’s family and friends both dreaded and hoped for.
“Like Mrs. Luverne said it does,” Jaggers said. “She said Mrs. Linda now we can have closure you know, and go ahead and do the things that we’ve got to do.”
Linda said Jason was a loving person who represented what it meant to be a Christian: a man who loved his wife from day one and his children. Now, his passing is affecting everyone he knew.
“He’s going to be missed so much in so many ways, so many ways,” Jaggers said. “He’s got so many friends so many friends. Not just church friends but regular friends.”
Jason was a father of two and a beloved husband.
