DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Madeleine Overby, the 2015 Miss Dothan, will take the stage to compete as Miss Mississippi in the Miss USA pageant.

Overby, 21, grew up in Dothan, Alabama. Being from a military family, Overby has moved around often. She competed three times at Miss Alabama Teen USA before moving to Mississippi. Currently, Overby is a nursing student at the University of Southern Mississippi pursuing her master’s degree in nursing. After graduation, she hopes to become a Cardiothoracic Surgical nurse.

Though education is the main focus for Overby, she takes time away from the books to enjoy herself by teaching, singing, and dancing. Madeleine appeared on the TV show “America’s Most Talented Kids” and is a former NFL cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints. Also, she visits schools throughout Mississippi to teach teens about the importance of finding and maintaining their passion and academics.

Overby can be seen in the 68th annual pageant that will air live from Reno, Nevada, starting at 7 p.m. CT on Fox.
