HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — Family, friends, and first responders gathered together at the First Baptist Church in Headland Monday to say their final goodbyes to a late first responder.

William Steve Snell began his career as a firefighter in Headland 20 years ago and recently retired four months ago.

Fire Captain Tony Wilkerson spoke with News 18 about Snell’s final wishes from his colleagues.

“He wanted a firefighter’s burial so we are going through, and the surrounding agencies are being more than supportive with that wish being carried out,” Wilkerson said.

Snell was finally laid to rest at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
