FBI arrests Geneva County man for making terrorist threats toward Panama City residents

Local News

HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — FBI agents along with state and local authorities swarmed this house along Highway 167 — several miles north of Hartford.

Brandon Michael Waddell was taken into custody without incident.

This followed a multi-state investigation into death threats made against residents in Panama City, Florida.

Besides the threats, Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms says Dothan’s bomb squad found an explosive device at the home.

“The FBI was also notified because of some of the threats that were made and how they were made so we wound up attempting to contact him,” Sheriff Tony Helms said. “Dothan bomb squad came over, and they looked at a device and disabled it, and it wasn’t quite as bad as we initially thought it would be.”

Besides facing terrorist threat charges in Bay County, Waddell is also wanted on an unrelated aggravated stalking charge in Walton County.

He is being held at the Geneva County Jail and expected to be extradited to Florida.
