SLOCOMB, Ala. (WDHN) — The family of a Slocomb woman killed in a crash last Friday is asking for help in raising money to pay for funeral expenses.

Last Friday morning, Crystal Gayle Jernigan was severely injured when the Chevrolet Tahoe she was in flipped off the road. She was later pronounced dead at Flowers Hospital.

“She was very loved and touched many people in (her) life,” Crystal’s sister Jamie Jernigan Warr wrote. “She left her husband Sedrick Smith and three children Saige, Paige, Dakota Jernigan. We didn’t want to do this but sometimes things happen and you just have to ask for help.”

According to Slocomb Fire-Rescue, which responded to the wreck, Jernigan was also a mother of one of their junior fire rescue explorers.

As of this report, 88 people have donated so far, and the fundraiser has met $4,855 of its $10,000 goal. The fundraiser closes out Monday, but donations can be made at Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb or to Warr herself.
