Enterprise Neighborhood rezone proposal hits a wall

Local News

Enterprise, Ala. (WDHN)—Last week, more than 70 homeowners in western enterprise signed a petition opposing the proposed re-zoning of their neighborhood.
Mike Gurspan says those fighting the zoning change plan to be at the Enterprise City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Last week, the Enterprise Zoning Commission by a 4-to-3 vote approved changing Mamie Street from
residential to a “higher density” housing.

Homeowner Gary Donaldson lives adjacent to one of the parcels’ of land. He along with his neighbors fear
townhouses will be placed here. They have a petition with more than 60 signatures asking the City Council not to re-zone.
They believe it would cause a traffic nightmare off the
the intersection of the Boll Weevil Circle and Highway 84 West.

“The main concern is the rule of creating more homes in a limited space, small area. Everything that goes with density. It would
even affect stormwater runoff,” according to Donaldson.
