East Saunders incident was not a standoff, sheriff’s office says

Local News

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — What was believed to be a standoff between Houston County Sheriff’s deputies and two people on East Saunders Road turned out to be something else.

Authorities originally responded to a “shots fired” Call, but Captain Bill Rafferty said it turned out to be an argument between multiple people. While no shots were fired, several people were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Rafferty said the initial police presence was so large because of the shots fired call.
