DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — This weekend, it will finally start to feel a lot like Christmas as the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority will be holding a variety of fun festivities with their Christmas festival.
City officials couldn’t be happier about this Christmas spirit they’re going to spread to the community.
“Our downtown businesses are super excited,” DDRA Exec. Director Jamie Bienvenu said. “This is the first year, we’ve partnered with the city of Dothan to combine the Dothan downtown Christmas festival along with the annual Christmas tree lighting so we’re really excited about that collaboration this year.”
There will be s’mores, ornament-making, music, and Santa bringing his special helpers for the kids. It’s old and new Christmas traditions that your whole family could enjoy.
Business owner Christy Keyton of Naomi and Olive couldn’t agree more because this will be crucial for small businesses.
“It’s very important for small business the month of December it always is but this year especially so we’re thrilled.” Keyton said.
Just like Naomi and Olive, KBC restaurant owners and one vendor are also excited about the wave of customers the event will bring.
“You know we’ve had a lot of ups and downs this year; we’re super excited,” Laura Barnard, KBC co-owner said.
Vendor, Laura Moore of Bushel & Peck Handcrafted shares this same joy.
“I am so excited about this event this weekend,” Moore said. “I’m going to be a vendor here, and I’m just super excited to get to see everybody and come out and talk to everybody.”
The event will be ongoing from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Foster and Saint Andrews streets.
