ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN)— Valentine’s Day is still two weekends away so don’t worry if you don’t know what to do especially because downtown Enterprise has you covered with their Downtown Date Night this weekend.
“This Saturday, Jan .30 is our first Downtown Date Night in downtown Enterprise, so it’s a little bit before valentine’s day and we are encouraging everyone to come down and shop local,” said Enterprise Main Street Director, Cassidi Kendrick.
Normally the city of Enterprise tries to plan something special on every fifth Saturday of the month. The goal with this Saturday’s event is to benefit downtown businesses especially now that the holiday season is over and it’s a slower period for them. Over 15 downtown businesses are involved in one way or another.
“Anytime that we can encourage the public to support our local businesses we want to do that because they are you know the heart of our community and you know they support us throughout the year with all kinds of different things that our community does so we just as many times as we can need to continue supporting the local businesses,” Kendrick said.
One of the many local Enterprise businesses taking part in downtown date night is corks & cattle, their focus is keeping everything local, from the ingredients in their menu items to the retail items they sell. Like many small businesses around the world the pandemic hit them hard.
“The initial shut down was hard, however we wanted to do this spot today basically as a thank you for getting us through that time,” said Leigha Clark, Manager of Corks and Cattle.
Clark says at this time they are doing much better and adjusting to the new normal, they will even be expanding their kitchen in the near future. As for what on the menu this Saturday- Corks and Cattle will be offering a steak and wine dinner with live music.
“Without our customers, we wouldn’t be here, so without our customers, we wouldn’t be able to grow we wouldn’t be able to offer the services we offer just graduations and flight school graduations and being a part of something a little bigger than ourselves sometimes,” Clark said.
Saturday is a family-friendly event but the theme is date night so it might be the perfect excuse for Mom and Dad to mask up, hit the town, and get a night out.
