Dothan woman accused of fatal stabbing

Local News

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan police have arrested a woman for allegedly stabbing a man to death in a domestic altercation Sunday.

It began as a response to an assault call, where police arrived at Florida Avenue and found Mikel Cummings, 32, with a stab wound to the chest.

First responders took Cummings to Southeast Health for treatment, where he passed away during surgery.

Investigators then determined that Nafeesah Shante Thomas, 26, was a suspect and that she was involved in a verbal domestic dispute with Cummings. From there, police allege that she took a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest.

Thomas has since been charged with one count of murder and is at the Houston County Jail.
