DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Hunt’s Seafood Restaurant is remembering one of its own after losing an employee to COVID-19.

Wanda Smith passed away Thursday at age 74.

Smith had worked at Hunt’s for over 30 years and was part of the restaurant family.

After finding out she had the virus, owner Tim Reeves said they took all precautions necessary, and Smith kept fighting the disease until losing the battle.

“She’s like part of the furniture, like myself, and I’ve got several people who have worked for me for over 20 years, one 40 years,” Reeves said. “I don’t want to lose anybody, but you lose somebody that’s been with you that long, you know, it’s hard.”

Services will be held for Smith on Sunday Aug. 23 at Trinity United Methodist Church.
