DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The roads are fuller and parking lots are no longer empty as of this Friday.

With the safer at home order going into effect Thursday, a lot of people were out today excited to shop.

“I’m excited, and I just got tired of sitting up in the house and know it was for our safety,” Ayanna Conyers said. “So now, it’s time to get back to normal life.”

Some shoppers said they are glad that they can finally go out and do things they believe are part of being an American.

“It’s like unbelievable freedom that we can have this time to come back in a community and start living our lives again,” Tina Diggs said

While people believe this is a step in the right direction, some hope that opening up will continue in all businesses.

“Well we’re just hoping everything keeps continuing to go well, and everything gets going again,” Jamie Hataway said.

Customers aren’t the only ones happy to go shopping again. Employees are glad to be back in the field.

“It feels like being back being home,” Heather Perkins said. “You know um and being able to help people get the things that they need. You now the things that we have here, they are essential things. So, we’re glad to be back and be providing for people.”

People said they are ready to go sit down in restaurants and enjoy a fine meal as well.
