DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — While it still being election season around the nation, the Dothan Preparatory academy is holding its own election real-world style.
Right now, students are voting for their student government association members.
To give students the real experience of voting, teachers have mimicked how real poll precincts are set up.
Students are given a makeshift ballot that they hand to a faculty member who acts as a poll watcher.
“We just want the students to know the importance of voting as an adult and that their voice counts,” Melissa Evans said.
Evans said this is a good way to get students excited to vote when the time comes.
