Dothan man shot by family member now charged with burglary

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The man shot twice Monday afternoon now faces a burglary charge, according to Dothan police.

A Dothan Police Department press release states that the shooting on Decatur Street happened when a family fight turned violent around 1:30 p.m.

Police said Justin Bland, 31, of Dothan entered a family member’s home illegally after he was banned from the property. After the fight broke out, the family member shot Bland twice out of fear for his life.

Dothan Fire Medics treated Bland and took him to a local hospital. The family was not charged in the shooting.

As of this report, Bland is being held in the Houston County Jail on a first-degree burglary charge with a bond of $60,000.
