Dothan man charged with attempted murder

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan man is being charged with attempted murder after a drug deal gone wrong, according to police.

The Dothan Police Department said that on Sunday, officers found person with critical injuries from an assault on the 200 block of West Main Street.

The victim was not able to tell officers what happened and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

After further investigation, officers with the Criminal Investigations Division learned from witnesses that their suspect was Anthony Dozier, 33, of Dothan.

The DPD said that Dozier had met with the victim to sell drugs, but when the victim didn’t want to pay, Dozier attack them with a blunt object, taking an unknown amount of money from the victim.

Officers with the Patrol 3rd Squad helped arrest Dozier Tuesday. He is now being held without bond for attempted murder and first-degree robbery.

The victim is still said to be in critical condition.
