DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan police have arrested the suspect in the Dollar General shooting Thursday evening.
Howard Tremaine Grant was arrested after authorities said he and Dontez Thomas, 21, got into an argument in the Dollar General parking lot on Selma Street. This ended with Grant allegedly firing shots at Thomas.
“They say they were shooting into the store,” Megan Lynch said. “They got into an argument outside. That’s what the people inside said and that guy started running in, and he started shooting at him into the store.”
“He fired approximately three rounds into the store, and one of those rounds hit our victim in the back,” Lt. Lynn Watkins said.
Shattered glass, crime scene tape, and flashing lights have local residents concerned.
“I live right down the road, and I go into the Dollar General every day, and it’s kinda scary, and the Piggy Wiggly, we might ask the landlord for another location,” Lynch said.
Grant fled the scene heading north until Eufaula police spotted the white sedan and arrested him.
He was brought back to Dothan and was charged with attempted murder, first-degree criminal mischief and one count of shooting into an occupied building.
