DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Taylor man is in jail after allegedly robbing a store with a railroad spike Wednesday, according to the Dothan Police Department.

Lt. Scott Owens said Kaleb Hunter Kirkland, 21, robbed the Dollar General on the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle while wielding the nail-like object, demanding cash from the store clerks. He also tried to steal some beer from the business.

However, the thievery was stopped short as officers arrived at the scene and took Kirkland into custody at 8 p.m.

Kirkland now faces one charge of first-degree robbery and is being held without bond in the Houston County Jail.
