DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan City School’s Director of Safety, Security, and Attendance held a press conference Tuesday morning.
Faulk talked about the new uniforms students will wear starting the first day, as well as the code of conduct, but the biggest topic he spoke about was the first cell phone policy draft.
Faulk said when the committee looked at the policy, they looked at how it’s used to start fights, how they can be used for cheating, and how it’s used for social media during class. time.
“We wanted to make sure that number one, children are safe. Number two, we wanted to make sure that all children have the right to come to school and get an education. That was important, and not have that education interrupted, not have children who do not have permission to be placed on social media in negative looks,” Scott Faulk said.
Faulk said the board hoped to have a decision on the policy by the time school starts on August 20th.
